Chobe Camping Safari departs every day during High season, and mostly on a Tuesday and Friday during Off season. This 3-day safari includes Chobe boat cruises, game drives and staying in a wild tented camp! It’s the perfect opportunity to experience the nature of Chobe during this short stay camping excursion.
Our local Botswana guides offer excellent knowledge of the area. The local expertise provides a great insight into tracking the wildlife movement in Chobe National Park. Expect excellent photographic opportunities on this safari!
Even though it’s only three days, the Chobe Camping Safari combines the best of the Chobe River and Chobe National Park.
We explore the wildlife of Chobe on a boat and our open 4X4 game drive vehicles. The river drive offers spectacular views of the Chobe River and the grassland flood plains. Large concentrations of animals are gathering on the floodplains!
Meals will consist of hearty bush cuisine, and a cook will prepare all our meals on open fires. We do cater for special dietary requirements.
This safari is available on request. Please book your private safaris well in advance during the peak season to ensure availability inside the park. Our team can highly recommend the Chobe Camping Safari.
No children under 12 years are allowed on this safari. Alternatively, we can book your family camping trip and pair it with activities like the Boat Cruise & Game Drive.

Day 1 |
Kasane – Chobe National ParkOur safari starts at 08:45 in Kasane. After check-in, ours safari starts with a Chobe boat cruise. The river cruise is considered one of the highlights of the trip, as one gets the opportunity to get up close and personal with fantastic birdlife, hippos, crocodiles, and of course scores of elephant and Cape buffalo that make their way down to the river to quench their thirst. After a hearty lunch and some relaxing time, our scenic game drive starts towards our tented camp situated inside the Chobe National Park. This is the best time to see Chobe’s large herbivores making their way down to the river to drink. Arrive in camp shortly after sunset for drinks around the camp fire and dinner under the stars. The overnight campsite is a private, unfenced site within the park. |
Day 2 |
Chobe National ParkGuests are woken at dawn with a friendly Botswana “dumela” (good day). After a quick cup of tea or coffee, vehicles head off on an early morning game drive. This time of day is best for finding Chobe’s infamous lions or elusive leopards, as they are still active at this time and chances of seeing them are good. Around mid to late morning guests return to camp for a delicious “bush brunch” and a siesta getting an opportunity to read rest or take a refreshing “bush” shower. When the day starts to cool off another afternoon game drive follows afternoon tea, and good sightings are revisited or areas as yet unexplored are visited. Chobe National Park has a wide variety of game—the cats and large herbivores such as elephant and buffalo being a highlight, but rarer game such as Puku, Eland, Sable and Roan antelope along with many more common antelope can be viewed here. Return to camp after sunset, chatting about the day’s sightings around a warm fire, accompanied by the sounds of the African bushveld. |
Day 3 |
Chobe National Park – KasaneOn the last day, we do an early morning game drive and our final scenic drive exiting the park towards our starting point in Kasane for another Chobe boat cruise. Our Chobe camping safari will come to an end around 16h00 back in Kasane. |
