Kubu Lodge: Your Gateway to Chobe National Park

Kubu Lodge is ideally situated near Kasane, just 13 km from the entrance of Chobe National Park. Nestled in lush gardens that embrace the natural bush, this charming lodge offers a peaceful escape and an excellent base for exploring northern Botswana’s wildlife treasures, including the famed Victoria Falls.

Kubu Lodge was established in 1986 and is the longest owner-managed lodge in Kasane. It is primely situated on the banks of the Chobe River and covers 30 hectares of Forest Reserve which is mostly undeveloped. It is a sanctuary for the Chobe bushbuck, as well as mongoose, warthog and abundant birdlife.

• 11 Raised Wooden Thatched Chalets: Set back from the river’s forest edge, spread out beneath large shady trees, each chalets enjoys its own privacy with its own outside deck
• The chalets are spacious with en-suite bathroom, hairdryer, a plug point for electric shaver, a small fridge, ceiling fan, tea and coffee machine, Wi-fi and mosquito net over each bed
• 2 Double Bed Chalets (with a twin bed in as well)

Social Responsibility 

KAZUNGULA CHILDREN’S ARK SUPPORT GROUP

Kubu Lodge takes its Social Responsibilities very seriously and has been intimately involved with the Local Community in various capacities over the last three decades.

Kazungula Children’s Ark Support Group is located on the lodge property is a pre-school, day care center and youth library, and has been in operation since 2006

Kazungula Children’s Ark was initiated by Kubu Lodge, on request from the Community, and in association with the Social Services, KCA is a registered Centre governed by a Board elected by members from the Community. Its aim is to provide a haven for ‘Children at Risk’ – AIDS, orphans, needy, destitute, and vulnerable children between the ages of two and a half years to six years. The thirty children cared for daily at KCA enjoy a loving atmosphere, a variety of educational activities and a wholesome nutritional feeding program. The project is wholly funded by private donations. KCA has been running for 19 years and has proudly graduated 18 classes to ‘BIG SCHOOL’ since its inception.

On request our guests may visit the school and children to witness first-hand the dedication and devotion of the volunteers and full-time teachers.

CARACAL World of Wildlife and Biodiversity Centre

The Centre for the Conservation of African Resources, Animals, Communities and Land Use (CARACAL, a Botswana registered NGO) recently opened the doors of the Biodiversity Centre in Kasane. While the Centre is aimed mainly at education and environmental conservation, we also have a focus on encouraging local, national, and international visitors to share our programmes, projects, and information with us. Hence, visitors can experience a very affordable and informative tour of the Centre, with or without a guide, and experience some of Botswana’s intriguing natural wonders at close range. Spend as long as you want and do as much as you please but visit the Biodiversity Centre for an experience during your visit to Chobe that you will not get on a game drive or river cruise. CARACAL is a not-for-profit Organisation and so you will also be helping a great cause in the region by supporting the Centre through your visit. The money spent on your visit with us will go to improving the Centre, living conditions of the animals and our education and conservation program
