Chobe National Park is situated in northern Botswana, close to the borders with Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Known for its incredible biodiversity and large elephant population, the park has become one of Africa’s most sought-after safari destinations. Our Chobe National Park Map has been designed to help visitors visualise the region, plan their trip, and easily locate key landmarks including entry gates, airports, and lodges.
Our interactive Chobe map is more than just a static image — it's a dynamic tool for planning your trip. Here's what you can find:
Chobe National Park is strategically located in the northern corner of Botswana, making it a cornerstone of the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA). Its proximity to the borders of Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe makes it an easily accessible and popular destination for cross-border safaris and Chobe day trips. The park is a short drive from the town of Kasane, the main hub for visitors to the region.
Chobe National Park is not a single, uniform landscape. It is a mosaic of different ecosystems, each with its own unique character and wildlife viewing opportunities. Our Chobe river map and regional guide below will help you understand the distinct areas and the remarkable Chobe National Park animals found in each.
The most famous and accessible part of the park, the Chobe Riverfront, is renowned for its enormous herds of elephants and Cape buffalo, especially during the dry season (May to October). The river itself is a hub of activity, with hippos, crocodiles, and a stunning variety of birdlife. A boat cruise on the Chobe River is an essential experience, and several Chobe houseboats offer multi-day stays on the water. Browse Kasane accommodation for lodges near the riverfront.
In the western part of the park, the Savuti Marsh is a legendary wildlife-watching destination within Chobe National Park. It is known for its large prides of lions that have learned to prey on elephants, as well as for sightings of cheetahs, leopards, and African wild dogs. The Savuti Channel, which feeds the marsh, has a fascinating history of drying up and flowing again, dramatically changing the landscape and the wildlife dynamics. Explore Savuti accommodation options including Savute Safari Lodge and Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge.
To the north of Savuti, the Linyanti Marsh is a more remote and exclusive area, known for its pristine wilderness and large concentrations of wildlife. The Linyanti River forms the border with Namibia, and the area's lagoons and riverine woodlands are home to elephants, lions, and the rare roan and sable antelopes. View Linyanti accommodation for lodges in this secluded corner of the park.
This less-visited area of the park is characterised by clay pans that hold water well into the dry season, attracting a variety of Chobe National Park animals including large numbers of elephants and a good population of eland. It is an excellent destination for Chobe game drives away from the main tourist circuits.
Below is a complete reference of every landmark featured on our interactive map, including park entry gates, natural landmarks, cultural and historical sites, airports, accommodation, and nearby attractions. Use this guide alongside the map above to plan your Chobe safari adventure.

Known locally as the "Stolen River," this enigmatic waterway runs approximately 100 kilometres from the Linyanti system to the Mababe Depression.
